Spirit of the Game

Spirit of the Game

The idea here folks is that we get past the idea of “trying to get away with stuff” so that the “ref doesn’t catch me”. There are no officials in this game other than ourselves. Thus we must all endeavour to play clean. There will be times when we have fouls called against us when it’s really going to mess up our team – too bad! If you’re guilty – accept the consequences. This is one time in life when we are not trying to get away without getting caught.

There is nothing wrong with being competitive. It’s my opinion that Spirit of the Game plays right into the hands of the ultra-competitive. If you want to win then you only truly will relish the victory if it is earned as a result of better mind, speed or ability. In fact, it demands all three qualities!

Play hard, play fair, nobody hurt. The motto of “New Games” fits right into this peace-lovin’ grooviness game. As UPA exec. director & TUC GM, John C. Harris always signs off, Always play with Spirit.
