League Play

Barrie Ultimate League runs year-round. In the summer there are two leagues: Recreational and Competitive. In the fall and winter BUL goes indoors for a recreational league.

Summer Recreational

The Summer REC league runs Monday nights from Victoria Day to the end of August. Players of all levels are welcome. Players can register as individuals or in groups of up to six people. Teams in the league are formed by the summer convener, who balances teams for experience, speed, height, and male/female split.

If there are sufficient numbers, league play is 4:3 gender split; otherwise, BUL plays 5:2.

Summer Competitive

The Summer COMP league runs Thursday nights from the beginning of June to the end of August and is open to experienced ultimate players. Each team is selected independently by the Captain. If you’re interested in playing, use the forum to contact team captains.

Indoor Recreational

During the cold weather BUL plays in the Barrie Sportsdome. Like the outdoor recreational league, teams are formed by the convener from individual and group registrations (maximum six per group). All players are welcome to join.

Games are played 4:2 with a strict 1 hour time-cap. There are no pulls after points; instead, the disc is turned over on the goal line and play continues on. Substitutions can be made on the fly.

Fall registration is in September, and the league runs from October to Christmas. Winter registration is in December and the league runs from mid-January to mid-April.
