Starting in 2010, Barrie Ultimate offers a Junior League for both new and experienced players 12 – 18 years of age. Ultimate is a non-contact team sport combining the physical endurance (non-stop movement and athletic endurance) of soccer and the aerial passing skills of football.
The new Junior program began in Winter 2010 with two six-week clinics where participants were taught how to throw and catch a disc, simple rules of the game and most importantly the Spirit of the Game which encourages players to self-referee and play with sportsmanship and respect.
For Summer 2010, there is a six-week juniors league. Players will be coached on the skills fo the game each week and then will be able to practice what they’ve learnt as they play the game. Registration is on-line at www.ondisc.org. It is a two-step process:
1. You register as an ODSA (Ontario Disc Sport Association) member. Membership type is “Ultimate Organization Club Member – under 18 years”. You must complete this form with your parent.
2. Once your membership is activated you will receive a confirmation e-mail. Check your span folder is you don’t see an e-mail right away. You can then proceed to league registration.
