In addition, the GTA All Stars are excited to expand and begin to develop Junior players (born in 1995 and later) to compete provincially this year and nationally next year for GOLD.

The GTA All Star teams (OverDrive, HighOctane, Rawhide) tryouts will begin on May 23 and they will end on June 6.

Pretty please with sugar on top come to our tournament. We really want this to be a success and make it an annual thing. We have at least 3 teams in the Sault who want to compete. All we need is 7 out of town teams to make this a worth while venture.

It’s that time of year again, the sunshine is lasting a little longer, the birds and bees are coming back, and registration for Barrie Ultimate 2012 is open!  Read on for this season’s info.  There are some great changes, so be sure to read in detail.

RECREATIONAL LEAGUE & SKILLS CLINIC: Tuesday nights

When: Tuesday nights at 6:30pm
Where: Barrie Central Collegiate
How long: May 8th to June 12th
How much: $40 (which includes a disc).  Free drop-in for League Members registered for either Monday and/or Thursday night.
What: If you know anyone who has ever wanted to try ultimate please pass this on to them.  Not only is this a great introduction to the sport but it is also a good opportunity to learn game essentials that are often missed or overlooked in regular league play.  This is a six week clinic based program that will be coached by Andrew Clark.  The focus will be on learning game essentials, rules and basic skills.  First half of each session will be skills and drills, the second half will consist of a pick-up game.  For those that wish to continue, free pickup will be offered until the end of August.

INTERMEDIATE LEAGUE: Monday Nights

When: Monday nights at 6:30pm
Where: Barrie Sports Complex (Midhurst), Barrie North Collegiate, Barrie Central Collegiate
How long: May 7th to August 20th
How much:  $80 alone, only $40 if already registering for Thursday too!
What: This is our social league for those who want to play hard but are still able to keep it light and have fun playing ultimate. This is a hat style league where you provide a self-ranking which is used to help draft you onto a team.  Please be honest with your self-rankings and this aides the convenor in providing the league with balanced teams.  This league is open to everyone from beginners to advanced so there are a variety of players of varying ability.  This year you can sign up to play with one other player (must request each other) and request a wish lists of up to six people that will be considered at the discretion of the convenor.  Post game wrap-ups will be held at the Lockeroom. An end of the season tournament will be held for all teams on Saturday August 25th at the Tree Nursery in Springwater.

COMPETITIVE LEAGUE:  Thursday nights
When: Thursday nights at 6:30pm
Where: Eastview Collegiate
How long: May 10th to August 23rd
How much: $80 alone, only $40 if already registering for Monday too!
What:  This league is for those that want to play hard and work on ultimate plays with their team and/or those who just want to raise their ultimate game.  This year only individual registration will be accepted (online through ODSA or cash at Pub night).  This year in an effort to improve the competitive parody of the league we will run a 2-week pick up session starting May 10th with all players registered.  Immediately after the second pickup night the Captains and Competitive Convenor will draft teams and create a schedule for the rest of the season.  Anyone interested in building their experiences as either a Convenor or Captain please contact the league.

Summer 2012 registration is open from March 26 – April 23rd 2012.

HOW TO REGISTER: Barrie Ultimate uses the ODSA online store for league registrations.  Registration is a two-step process:

1. You must first register as a member of ODSA (this is a one-time event).
2. You must then register for the specific league(s) you want to play in (e.g., Summer 2012 Intermediate, Competitive, or Skills Clinic & Rec Leagues).

BARRIE ULTIMATE SHIRTS & DISCS: You’ll have the opportunity to purchase shirts and discs during registration.  Gear is available all year through the OSDA registration, and we hope to make them available for sale on our site later this year.  For now, if you want to purchase gear after the registration please send us an Email.
