Barrie Ultimate’s own Julie Kramer is one of the organizers of Gender Blender, and she asked me to post this up!  —Ian.

What: Gender Blender is a one-of-a-kind tourney that’s on the top of the bucket list for ultimate players.
Where: Fergus (near Guelph)
When: Friday June 3rd to Sunday June 5th, 2011

Details: www.genderblender.org

It’s a 2-day tournament with the fun starting on Friday night with the Blender Party and continuing with other events including the All-Star Game, catered meals, Talent Contest, cups tournament, Saturday Night Party and much more.… Until you’ve experienced it for yourself you can’t really understand how rare and exceptional it is.

I hope you’ll come to this tournament and experience it for yourself, or, if you’ve been before spread the word around the world as we continue to attract teams from near and far (including Barrie).

We look forward to seeing you in Fergus!

The Stall Fall Classic Ultimate Tournament is quickly approaching! It is time to get a team together for a fun weekend in Guelph, Ontario during the last weekend of Summer.

The Stall Fall Classic will take place on Saturday, September 18th and Sunday, September 19th at the Centennial Sports Complex and Guelph Lake Sports Fields. There will be two divisions: Competitive A Division (for experienced teams) and Competitive B Division (for teams with little or no tournament experience). Each team will play 3 or 4 games on Saturday and at least 2 games on Sunday. This year’s party theme is “Disco Fever”! Just a reminder that alcohol is not permitted on any City of Guelph Fields.

Space is limited, so don’t wait and be disappointed. The cost is $350/team. Check the website out for more details and registration forms. http://www.perpetualmotion.org/StallFall/Main.htm

Ultimate Junkies (Newmarket Ultimate and surrounding area league) are hosting their first “annual” Flying Hi Tourney on Sept 12 and 13th in Newmarket, at Bayview Park (aka – George Richardson Park).
The cost is $42 a player and includes a continental breakfast, prizes, $5 East Side Mario’s Voucher (Newmarket location) and admission into a Saturday night “Flying Hi” Party at the White Rabbit (Main St. Newmarket).   Information can be found here or by email contact@ultimatejunkies.com.
If you’re interested in going as part of a Barrie Ultimate contingent, email Steve VanderSchee at steven@barrieultimate.com.

We’ve received announcements for two tournaments being held on September 13-14: the Spirit Ultimate Charity Tournament in Ottawa, and a hat tournament in North Bay (raising funds for a 13-year-old girl who was diagnosed with brain cancer).

I’ve set up separate forum discussions for each tournament, here and here. This is also the same weekend as Stall Fall, so it’ll be a busy weekend of ultimate! More info after the break…

Caitlind Lusty and Shaw Dungate are both playing in the World Championships this week.

The junior open team went 5-2 to finish second in the preliminary round—they get an automatic seeding in the semifinals.

The junior womens’ team went 2-4 in the initial round, so will need to win the C pool to get to the championships. Canada and the USA both won their first two games, so the head-to-head match-up (Thursday, 12:00 EDT) will decide who goes on.

UPDATE:
The junior open team lost in the finals to the USA, 17-7.

The junior women finished the medal round in fifth. Japan won the tournament.
