Some of you may have seen our fancy new discs flying through the air in the past week or so, and they are now available for purchase! The logo on the discs matches our shirts, and there’s a range of colours including glow-in-the-dark. Discs are available from Bob Martin, they are $12 each and $15 for the glow-y ones. Bob is also in charge of shirts, and there are red and white shirts available as well if you don’t have yours yet.

Hi everyone,
The snow is gone, the grass is growing, and it’s time to get ready for summer ultimate! We have a great season planned for you so get your cleats out and read on for this season’s info. New stuff for each league is first, then the summary of the things that we usually do just as a reminder.
With only one game left in the indoor season, I’m sure many of you have already started thinking about the outdoor season. Rest assured that your executive is working frantically to get summer registration up and running by mid-April. So keep checking in, we can’t wait to get outside, dig deep and lay out. Also remember our new format this year: Advanced, Intermediate and Rec. Due to player feedback, we are committed this year to keeping a division that is purely recreational. So if you know of anyone who has tried this sport and left it as they found it too competitive, please tell them to come back and try our new and improved rec league.
In the meantime, for those that love disc sports as much as we love disc sports, the executive wants to get your thoughts regarding the building of a disc golf course in Barrie. We’ve been contacted by a soon to be organization called the Barrie Disc Golf Club. They are currently in the process of petitioning the City for the development of a local course. This is a huge opportunity for disc sports in Barrie! As such, we will be circulating a petition regarding this issue to our members as a show of our support for this endeavor. Hopefully, we can get work it in with our registration information, so keep your eyes open for it.
your President,
Jen Callow
Attached, please find the minutes from our November 4, 2010 AGM at the Flying Monkeys Brewery. Many thanks to all those who took time from their busy schedules to attend. Your interest and support is what keeps this league going!
For those who want the cliff notes, the three most notable points of interest are:
1. It was decided to proceed with the creation of a three divisions in our summer league, titled Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced.
a) It is our hopes and intentions that by creating a Beginner division we will create a more level playing field for those that are new to the sport to have more disc time which will allow them to practice and hone their skills. We also intend to recruit at least four coaches to be a resource for teams during games as well as run a skills and drills clinic preceding each game.
b) We also encourage our more experienced players (ie. those who have played rec for more than three years) to register in our advanced league as a way of bringing their game to a higher level.
2. We are still looking for an incoming 2011 summer convenor. We encourage anyone who loves this sport as much as we do and want to continue to see it flourish in Barrie to come forward.
3. Our Juniors division has been put on hold temporarily.
