Forget about the two feet of snow on the lawn—summer league is coming!
As in years past, the recreational league will be Monday nights, from May 12 to August 18. The league is open to all players—if you’ve never played before, this is where to start.
Here are some preliminary dates and details:
REGISTRATION AND FEES
Registration will open on April 14. You must register on-line—no paper entries. The fee for Rec League is $100 per person. This includes all field fees, insurance, and a dri-fit jersey for every player.
There’s a new policy for policy for rec jerseys this summer—see here for more details.
Registration will close on May 1. If you do not register by the deadline, you will not play.
We will have a pre-season social on May 1, location TBA. We will accept cheques that night, and it will be a venue to confirm sizing for shirts and place orders for other merchandise.
GROUP ENTRIES
Rec League does not allow complete teams to register together. We encourage players to register as individuals or couples (spouses, car-poolers, etc.), and will make sure that all couples play together.
We will accept groups of up to six players. We will attempt to place the entire group on the same team, but will not guarantee this—team balance will take priority.
SEASON SCHEDULE
Games are played Monday nights at 6:30 p.m. Field locations TBA.
Teams will be announced on May 5, and there will be two pre-season scrimmages—May 12 and May 19 (Victoria Day)—where teams will be assessed and final team selections made.
The regular season will run from Monday, May 26 to Monday, August 18 (12 games). The league still runs on all holidays.
To help out new players, zone defense will not be allowed until the third game of the regular season.
PLAYOFFS
As in the past two years, rec league play-offs will be a one-day tournament on Saturday, August 23.
We’re planning on refreshments, a barbecue, and kids activities, so circle this day now!
